MALDIVES – 11 restaurants, white sand, blue sea, and sky. If this is what you are dreaming of for your holiday, the magic triangle composed by the CROSSROADS Marina, the Hard Rock Hotel Maldives, and the SAii Lagoon Resort Maldives is the place for you.
We have spent 6 nights in this piece of heaven on Earth and we have had the possibility to taste or get feedback about most of the 11 restaurants available in the complex, which is a unique one in its type.
Hard Rock Café Maldives @CROSSROADS Maldives – $$ – 5 Monkeys rating 🙉 🙉 🙉 🙉 🙉
Who said that the music is dead? At the Hard Rock Café, you will be on stage for a great meal and entertainment. The menu’ varies from different plates staging the all-classic Legendary Burger up to great ribs and steaks. Up for an alcoholic or not alcoholic drink? The bar will prepare always what you are looking for. In my 6 nights stay, I’ve spent more than one night at Hard Rock even just for a drink since there is every night live music. Speaking of live music, don’t miss the Deviate3 band, capable to entertain you with their sound.
Are you a rock star? Don’t miss the Wednesday Karaoke night where you can have fun singing whatever you like on stage.
Mention of honor to the Hard Rock Café staff, the soul of the place where your memories will be filled with a good time. Big kudos to John, JP, JL, and Louis, and all the staff for making Hard Rock a special place.
Elephant and Butterfly @Hard Rock Hotel – $$$ – 5 Monkeys rating 🙉 🙉 🙉 🙉
Dreaming a dinner on the beach with a sea view? The Elephant and Butterfly is the place for you. The Tex-Mex inspired menu will be able to delight you with fresh fish, guacamole, and great dessert. Do not miss the tuna tataki together with the salmon and – of course – leave some space for the special dessert: grilled banana bread.
Miss Olive Oyl Restaurant and Pool Bar @SAii Lagoon Resort Maldives – $$ – 5 Monkeys rating 🙉 🙉 🙉 🙉
Enjoy a sandwich near the infinity pool or a hot meal inspired by Italian cuisine a few meters from the beach. Miss Olive Oyl Restaurant and Pool Bar won’t disappoint you. The menu spaces from sandwiches and salads available at the bar with delicious cocktails to a more elaborated kind of food available at the restaurant. if you are looking for a casual dinner or a great lunch, this is the place for you.
Mr. Tomyam @SAii Lagoon Resort Maldives – $$ – 5 Monkeys rating 🙉 🙉 🙉
How crazy can an Italian-Thai bistro be? The reality is a good mix of Italian flavors mixed with Thai spices. Mr. Tomyam managed to get some old Italian classics in Asian sauce without becoming too extreme in one direction or the other. As Italian I’ve tasted their “Pasta al pesto” and the flavor was quite good, the cooking time of the pasta too. The fact that the restaurant is located on the beach makes also a certain impact either for lunch or for dinner.
Hard Rock Pool Bar @Hard Rock Hotel – $ – 5 Monkeys rating 🙉 🙉 🙉
Rock and roll next to pool? Why not? The Hard Rock Pool Bar can offer food and drinks specifically for your lunch, after lunch, early dinner, and after-dinner moments. The menu is quite wide to be a bar with drinks being predominant. Good for a different lunch but service can be improved a bit.
Sessions @Hard Rock Hotel – $$ – 5 Monkeys rating 🙉 🙉
Out of the one I’ve tried probably not the best one. Born as a buffet-style restaurant offers also á-la-carte dinner with a nice view of the beach. I was there during the Fishmarket and everything was very chaotic and not super organized. Food per sé was not bad but too much crowd and some basic mistakes as placing dessert (creams) without ice made me avoid the place for the rest of the holiday. Cool that for lunch and dinner you can have the Deviate3 playing when they are not at the Hard Rock Café: definitely the only positive note of that evening.
If you have a half-board, full board or all-inclusive package you have also access to these restaurants available at CROSSROADS Maldives:
- Jiao Wu
- Kinkao Thai Bistro
- Kebab & Kurry
- Ministry of Crab ($45 F&B credit per person – dinner only)
- Nihonbashi Blue ($45 F&B credit per person – dinner only)
- Carne Diem ($45 F&B credit per person – dinner only)
Bottom line
This magic triangle in the Indian Ocean works very well for those who are looking to relax, have fun, and have good food. There is a lot to explore and different kinds of restaurants to try. Definitely, a place where you want to come back and a valid alternative to other resorts in the area.
